My research focuses on understanding and mitigating the ecological impacts of biological invasions, particularly within the context of climate change and habitat transformation. A particular focus of mine has been the Polyphagous Shot-Hole Borer (PSHB) which has been degrading urban and natural ecosystems for a number of years. The use of predictive epidemiological models allowed me to understand the current and future impacts that this invasive pest may have in the coming years.<\/p><p>Another aspect of my work involves the use of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) for spatial analysis, ecological mapping and tracking the progression of invasions. This background has provided me with critical ecological insight and technical proficiency, which I have applied across a range of field-based and spatial analysis projects. I have completed formal training in risk analysis through the South African National Biodiversity Institute (SANBI) and have authored multiple risk analyses for invasive species within the South African context.<\/p><p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">My professional interests lie in the protection of native ecosystems, the restoration of biodiversity, and the development of science-based,
